Rye Film Club presents West Side Story on Friday January 5 (1961 – 145 minutes) at the Rye Community Centre. Perhaps this film needs little introduction except to remind you that it retells the story of Romeo and Juliet in 1960s New York. Starring the lovely Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer, hardly a household name these days, but a fine actor with a long career, latterly in American TV movies and series. Also starring are Russ Tamblyn, Rita Moreno and George Chakiris. With memorable dance routines and unforgettable songs, it ticks all the boxes when it comes to being a great film offering exciting all round entertainment. Doors open 6:30pm for 7pm start, refreshments and comfy seats! Tickets £5 on the door.
