Emma Miller, founder of Art & Soul, a fairly new gallery in the High Street is offering another interesting show from Saturday December 9. Sculptor and scientist Richard Neave who recently moved back to Rye from Manchester, trained as an artist and in 1973 became involved in the study of ancient Egyptian mummies. As part of this project, he reconstructed the faces of three ancient Egyptians.

Face Art by Charlotte Joslin

In 1992 Richard did a facial reconstruction of a girl whose well preserved body was found 1897 AD in a peat bog near a place called Yde in Netherland. In 1998 a murder investigation resulted in a successful prosecution as a result of his work. He is now creating fascinating sculptures using a variety of mediums with some of his figurative work being cast in bronze. Some of his pieces will be on display at Art & Soul gallery.

On the same day, Emma's daughter, artist Charlotte Joslin will be at the gallery to do some face painting.
