Equaliser dents title hopes

Last weekend (Sunday March 20) Beckley Rangers Eagles looked to close the gap on the leaders as they entertained top of the table Tonbridge. Dan Lake reports

After a 3-2 victory in their last game away to Pevensey at Westham following goals from Josh Green, Joshua Zon and an own goal, Sunday March 20 saw Beckley Rangers Eagles U18s face Tonbridge Junior Blues in a top of the table clash.

Tonbridge scored first before Beckley equalised through a controversial goal from Connor Morton when the ball bobbled around on the goal line, but both the referee and the opposition linesman said it was a goal, making it 1-1.

Beckley then went ahead through a great goal from Tommy Ackerley making it 2-1 at half time to Beckley. The second half saw Beckley play some fantastic football, and overall it was a great game.

With the game four minutes into added on time at the end, Tonbridge won a free kick and scored right in the top corner, the keeper got his finger tips to it, but there was nothing he could do and, with seconds left, the whistle went with the match finishing 2-2.
