Over the last two years I've been encouraged to create a new social impact organisation here in Rye. Through education and the promotion of composting, its purpose is to divert organic waste from landfills, create more nutrient rich soil and help provide more solutions to the climate crisis. We've installed and maintain a growing number of compost bins at Rye Community Garden, Tilling Green Community Centre, Rye Scouts and several residences.
Fourteen businesses are served with twice weekly collections and nearly twenty tons of waste has been diverted from landfill. In order to continue and expand, this project needs a van, preferably an electric one. We have been awarded two grants to support this growth providing we receive 50 or more donations to our crowdfunding appeal.
