RNLI Rye Harbour lifeboat station is saying farewell to Tony Edwards, 37 years a volunteer, the last two as LOM (Lifeboat Operations Manager) and welcomes as its new LOM Mark Hall.
Mark has relevant experience of three areas crucial to the good running of a lifeboat station dedicated every single day of every year to saving lives at sea. He was a senior manager of a multi-national company in London and holds an MBA in business administration. As a volunteer, he has served both on the Pett Parish Council, for some time as its Chairman, and as a member of the Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat team. Here he has developed a first-hand understanding of water rescues. Finally, he knows the waters in and around Rye Bay well.
"This will be a good challenge and I'm looking forward to it," Mark says. "Everyone at Rye Harbour station has been very supportive as I follow a steep learning curve. They’ve made someone like me, coming to the post from outside the RNLI, very comfortable."
