On Sunday August 26 Rye bowls Club were due to play an important league match at Iden but due to rain the match was postponed until Tuesday September  11.On Thursday August 30 Rye played Alexander Park at home in a friendly match of four triples. Rye teams comprised;Team 1 – Annette Bull (lead), John Davidson (second), Mick Wood (skip) Lost their match by 12 shots to 15Team 2 – Monty Crouch (lead), Rosemarie Crouch (second), and Norman Hickman (skip). Won their match by 18 shots to 11Team 3 – Dennis Fowler (lead) Rowland Gardner (second) and Margaret Everest Lost their match by a disastrous 9 shots to 19Team 4 – Jo Davidson (lead), Celia Kember (second), Anthony Kember (skip) Lost their match by 12 shots to 22Overall Score Rye 51 Shots – Alexander Park 67 Shots.Rye are suffering at the moment due to several players having other commitments or being unwell.  On Friday August 31 Rye played Westfield in a friendly match of four triples at Westfield.The Rye teams comprised;Team 1 – Jo Davidson (lead), Bert Ockenden (second), Roy Dyer (skip) Lost their match by 11 shots to 29Team 2 – Monty Crouch (lead), Rosemarie Crouch (second), and Don Williams (skip). Won their match by 24 shots to 11Team 3 – Annette Bull (lead) Sandra Romeo (second) and Carole Osbourne (skip) Won their match by 18 shots to 12Team 4 – Carol Bourne (lead), Norman Hickman (second), Anthony Kember (skip) Lost their match by 16 shots to 18Overall Score Rye Shots 69 – Westfield 70 Shots.An excellent match with a very close result and a good fun afternoon for all concerned.On September 1, 4, 5 and 6  Rye played away matches against Winchelsea, Hollington Old Church, St. Leonards and Northiam respectively.  The next homegames will be on Wednesday September 19 when Rye will play Battle then on SundaySeptember 22 Guestling will be the opponents which will be the last competitive match before the final fling on Sunday September 30 when club members play intra club games for a fun afternoon. The public are welcome to come and join us for afternoon tea and biscuits.
