Salt Farm Shop charity boules competition was played on its large car park on a overcast evening recently.

Despite the intermittent rain, 11 teams played, each team made up of players with different abilities and with many novices playing for the first time. It was a family event with ages in the teams ranging from 12 to 80.

The experience of the teams from the Queens Head, Inkerman Arms and Pub 31 plus a team from Romney Marsh helped take them to the semi-finals. The Inkerman Arms beat Romney Marsh to join Pub 31, who defeated the Queens Head, in the final. With the light fading Pub 31 defeated the Inkerman to win the competition for the second year running.

Thanks go to the players and to the support of Romney Brewery and Turners Ciders. With the villagers of East Guldeford providing a sausage sizzle, the evening raised over £250 for a defibrillator.
