Blessed be the bus

A second HarryBus takes to the road with help from on high

I attended Parish Communion at St Mary’s Church Rye on Sunday November 24. At the beginning of the service Revd Paul White announced that he had to perform a blessing after the service.

This was a blessing that he had never performed before he said - on a bus. True to his word outside the church he blessed the new HarryBus, the latest addition to Rye and District Community Transport.

At the beginning of April this year I was made aware that the bus that was bought in memory of my late husband Harry Conlin would be retired to the bus company in the sky. To not have a HarryBus driving round Rye saddened me, so I decided to raise the £12,500 needed to purchase a replacement.

With the help of the residents of Rye and my family, the sum was achieved and the purchased.

Nobody is happier than myself to have “HarryBus Two” on the road around Rye for what I hope is many years to come.
