Beachcombing for litter

The beach provides a home for all sorts of things, some unwanted. So who is heading for the beach?

Friends of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve will be gathering next Saturday December 5 for a festive beach-clean.

A gentle stroll across the sand and shingle, litter-picker in hand, will soon collect most of the rubbish washed up along the beach by autumn storms.

There is also the chance to see many wintering birds - and then comes the reward of hot soup at Lime Kiln Cottage.Meet at Rye Harbour car park at 10am, no booking necessary. Bring gloves if you have them. For further information please email rhnroffice@sussexwt.org.uk or ring 01797 227784.
