Sylvester, the resident church cat at St Mary’s, played host to eleven dogs, two guinea pigs, one cat and an elderly tortoise at a Blessing of Pets service on Sunday October 4, writes Shelley Jebb. The animals, and their human owners, were very well behaved, although the dogs felt it necessary to voice their approval during one of the bible readings. Sylvester was rather overwhelmed by the number of dogs, and hid in the organ loft where his owner, Canon David Frost, was playing the organ.
