A group of my friends were invited on Tuesday, September 13, to a presentation at the Globe Inn Marsh, Military Road, which included a free drink. Who would not be curious and very willing to attend?

South East Sussex Camra, (Campaign for Real Ale) presented two of the staff with an award - Runner Up Best Pub of the Year, specifically for the quality of ale served, but this was not the only factor. Community involvement, facilities, ambience and staff interaction also played a part. The first prize went to a pub in St Leonards-on-Sea.

The area which the committee reviewed  spanned 281 pubs, stretching from Eastbourne to Tunbridge Wells to Camber.

So well done John! (owner of the Globe). And thank you for driving some of us locals in your bus to the great gig on Sunday September 11 at your other pub, the Woolpack Inn in Warehorne.
