Artist follows his first love
Red Door gallery Andrew Blythe exhibition

The Red Door Alchemist Gallery, 58 Cinque Ports Street, is off to a flying start after the owner recently opened this new art venue with her own work. Well known local artist, Andrew Blyth, has taken residence for two weeks to show his beautiful work with delicate yet vibrant colours.

Andrew, now retired, has stepped back from his profession (architecture) and voluntary work which gives him more time for what has been his creative interest since childhood.

He has exhibited in the Rye Art Gallery and is well known for his watercolours. He is inspired by light and said: "I enjoy the architecture of our town, and the relationship with the landscape can give artists a lot of inspiration."

In the 90s Andrew and his partner Liz Butt, set up the Fountain Gallery in Hampton Court with an artist co-operative to run it. He was a trustee at the Rye Art Gallery where he was responsible for the design of the new extension which went on to win a major award from Sussex Heritage Trust. The exhibition will last to December 10, from 11am to 5pm each day.
