A-one+, on behalf of Highways England, have announced that they will be carrying out resurfacing work on the A259 between January and July 2018. The resurfacing, including the use of high friction surfacing and the reinstatement of the existing road studs and loops, is likely to cause major disruption to road users.
The work will be carried out in three phases and during the work the A259 will be closed and lengthy diversions will be in operation.
- Phase 1: work will be undertaken weekday nights from January 8 - January 25 between the Brenzett Roundabout and Skinners Roundabout in Rye. The work will start at 8pm and finish at 6am.
- Phase 2: work will be undertaken weekday nights from June 4 - June 15 between the Kettle O’Fish roundabout in Rye to A259 junction with B2093 near Ore. The work will start at 8pm and finish at 6am.
- Phase 3: the final phase is likely to be the most disruptive for Rye with work being undertaken for the two weekends of June 23/24 and June 30/July 1 between Skinners Roundabout and Kettle O'Fish Roundabout. This will mean both Fishmarket Road and South Undercliff will be closed to traffic from Friday at 8pm to Monday at 5am.
A-one+, with representatives from Highways England, will be holding a Public Information Event to discuss the work and the diversions that will be in operation. The information session will take place on Tuesday May 22 2018 - but that is four months after the first phase of work has been completed. The session will held at Tilling Green Community Centre, Mason Road from 3pm until 7pm.
