What's being described as "Rye's first authentic antique and brocante fair" was held on Sunday, March 2 in the Cattle Market Car Park. The new weekly event takes place each Sunday until September in what used to be the Channons building, now the Rye Emporium Antique Centre.
Organisers Jonathan Boyall and Stefano Mak were pleased with the turnout for the first event. "The sun shone and the fair was well attended by locals and visitors to Rye. There were over fifteen tables taken up by local sellers and dealers from far and wide. There was a real buzz with it being the first brocante event."
Brocante is French for second-hand and the organisers say the sale isn't just another boot fair. "It is vintage, antiques and collectables only, bringing a bit of Portobello Road style and glamour to Rye, for locals, visitors and brocanteurs alike. Rye is known for its remarkable history, welcoming hospitality and the wonderful independent shops, restaurants and bars. We look forward to your support and seeing many interested people on Sunday mornings."

The brocante event around the Rye Emporium building runs between 9am - 2pm with parking in the Cattle Market for £2.50 for the day.
